Why barns fly this in
You already paid for the horse. The adjustment is how it uses what it has.
Breeding, training, farrier, vet, saddle. That is the program. A restricted poll, withers, back, or pelvis is the part of the program working against itself. High-level horses are looking for the tenth, the extra fence, the cleaner turn. That is motion. That is the adjustment.
The last tenth
Racing is decided in how cleanly the horse uses itself. A thoracic spine that will not rotate, an SI that will not share load — that is time left on the track.
The cut
Polo, cutting, a dressage pirouette. Change of direction is a spine that can actually change. If it cannot, the horse invents a workaround — and the workaround is slower.
The work
Specific. Hands-on. At the horse.
I find the joint that is not moving and restore it — poll, withers, back, pelvis — so the animal can use itself instead of compensating. Compensation is expensive. It shows up as a missed distance, a dropped lead, a horse that was “fine in the barn” and not fine in the last furlong.
